LED Cove Lighting: Planning and Installation

LED cove lighting hides an LED strip behind a moulding so the light washes across the ceiling and upper wall. It is indirect lighting: soft, glare-free and easy to live with.

The LC-02 light cove moulding conceals the LED strip and lights the ceiling.

Plan the cove

  1. Decide the room edges that will carry the cove and measure each run.
  2. Choose a light cove profile: LC-01 and LC-07 are for horizontal bulkhead corners, LC-02 to LC-06 for flat-wall arrangements and LC-08 for a smooth, flowing curve.
  3. Check the profile drawing for the LED strip position and clearances, and plan where the power supply will sit.

Install the moulding

Cut and fit the pieces with a miter saw, bond them with drywall compound or Alex Flex Moulding and Trim Sealant (add support nails if needed), then fill the joints, sand lightly and paint. See the installation guide.

Add the LED strip

Mount the LED strip inside the cove. All electrical connections must be made by a licensed electrical professional. The strip and power supply are not included with NuCrown mouldings.
